Museums on the Mall Overview

Museums on the Mall is an annual event coordinated by AHC in cooperation with the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Public Records and the Museum Association of Arizona. The event takes place at the Arizona State Capitol each year on Statehood Day (February 14) and is free and open to the public. Festivities include a staged program celebrating Arizona’s statehood, exhibits by museums, cultural and historical organizations from around the state, and lunch for legislators. The State Library presents the Polly Rosenbaum Award to an exemplary public official, and the student winners of the Polly Rosenbaum Essay Contest are recognized.
The purpose of the event is to gain recognition for the contributions that museums make to the quality of life in Arizona and to assist organizations in developing alliances and crafting unified messages that effectively communicate the value of museums. This event gives the opportunity to all museums to gather at the State Capitol and meet with law- makers, as well as attend advocacy workshops and other networking opportunities.
