Arizona Archaeology Society, Northern Chapter, FLAGSTAFF.
Picture Canyon: Petroglyphs, People, and Preservation: a Museum of Northern Arizona publication. $7,000. AHC funds will support a magazine-style publication of Picture Canyon, and public programs exploring Picture Canyon in the summer of 2010. The publication will document Picture Canyon's human history and its present cultural resources, including; over 125 petroglyph panels, other archaeological remains, a historical railroad trestle used in northern Arizona's early lumbering industry, and its diverse ethnobotanical history. Arizona Museum for Youth, MESA.
Play Ball: The Cactus League Experience (Phase 2). $7,700. AHC funds will support the continuation of Mesa Historical Museum's "Play Ball" exhibit at the Arizona Museum for Youth; a multi-media exhibition opening in early 2010 that examines spring training in Arizona from the 1920s to the present. Read All About It: Public Policy from a Humanities Point of View. $2,500. AHC funds will support the creation of public policy-oriented book discussion resources, including readers' guides and discussion materials and moderated online discussions that will be available on the Morrison Institute for Public Policy Web site. Embracing America. $2,500. AHC funds will support the production/marketing phase of a documentary film exploring the highly controversial topic of immigration in Arizona. Project Director: Luz Sarmina Gutierrez, 602/248-8101.
Litchfield Park Historical Society, LITCHFIELD PARK.
Celebrating 100 Year of History: The Historic Sites and Sacred Places of Litchfield Park. $5,000. This oral history project will document and preserve the history and stories around Litchfield Park's sacred places, and will result in a short documentary film that includes a public screening in March 2010. Owi, nu' Hopi yu' a' ata (Yes, I speak Hopi): A Hopi History Booklet and CD. $6,600. AHC fund will support the development and production phase of an audio CD and booklet of that interprets and preserves selected events in Hopi history. The project includes plans for a public program and radio broadcast in the summer of 2010. Project Director: Anita Poleahla, 928/737-2255.
San Tan Historical Society, QUEEN CREEK.
The Crossroads of Historic Higley. $2,000. AHC funds will support an oral history project designed to preserve and share the history of historic Higley. The project will culminate in the collection and transcribing of oral histories available through the San Tan Historic Society and public presentation highlighting civic tourism in October 2010.Project Director: Leslie LeRoux, 480/220-0341.

Four Elements Teacher Workshop. $5,000. AHC funds will support the planning phase for a K-12 teacher workshop that explores the history of hip-hop through engaging students in the issues of social justice and artistic expression. Project Director: Curtis Acosta, 520/891-7327.

Mexico: The Revolution and Beyond, the Casasolas Archives 1900-1940. $1,735. Second International Conference on Developing and Assessing Intercultural Competence. $5,000. AHC funds will support a conference and workshop for K-16 teachers in January 2010, providing educators with historical and cultural content in order to enhance intercultural competence and instruction. 36th Annual African American Literature Association Conference. $5,000. AHC funds will support costs associated with the 2010 African Literature Association's Annual Conference entitled, "Eco-Imagination: Africa and Diasporan Literature and Sustainability." University of Arizona, Poetry Center, TUCSON.
Ten Years of Young Corridistas. $5,000. AHC funds will support the development of an audio anthology Ten Years of Young Corridistas, capturing the past prize-winners of the Poetry Center's annual High School Bilingual Corrido Contest. The audio CD will include a companion booklet featuring essays by humanities scholars, and will be featured alongside public events exploring and celebrating the corrido in the fall of 2010.Project Director: Gail Browne, 520/626-5880.

Voices of Vail. $5,000. This project will seek to document and share the history of Vail by researching Vail's historic sites, utilizing GIS mapping technology, public programs, and the development of a portable exhibition that can be utilized by schools. Project Director: J.J. Lamb, 520/419-4428.
