Arizona Historical Society, Southern Chapter, TUCSON.
$5,450. AHC funds will support the Arizona Historical Museum's exhibit which incorporates local archival materials to an existing National Park Service exhibit. The exhibit, opening in May 2010, will include free public programs, docent trainings, and teachers' workshops. Project Director: Laraine Daily, 602/617-1179.
Arizona Historical Society, Northern Arizona Chapter, FLAGSTAFF.
What Has Passed and What Remains. $10,000. AHC funds will support the installation of a new multimedia exhibit at the AHS's Pioneer Museum in April 2010, exploring the role of oral history in making meaning from the past, and will include an exploration of different methodologies for documenting oral histories. The Museum will incorporate a wide-range of public programs, K-12 teachers' workshops and classroom materials. Project Director: Peter Friederici, 928/523-6378.

The Refugee in the Postwar World. $10,000. AHC funds will support a free, public conference in April 2010 exploring the connections between refugees and the formation of nation-states through interdisciplinary perspectives of global population growth. City of Glendale, GLENDALE.
Glendale Centennial Commemoration. $5,000. AHC funds will support Glendale's centennial celebrations, including historic bus tours and public programming, beginning in summer 2010.Project Director: Angela Serda, 623/930-2956.
Mesa Community College, MESA.
Seventh Annual Mesa Community College International Film Festival. $9,000. The 7th Annual MCC International Film Festival, Historias Minimas: The Films of Carlos Sorin. The festival features an opening reception and discussions with Argentinean director Carlos Sorin following screenings of five of his films in March 2010 at Harkins at Arizona Mills. Arizona Ghost Towns: Dead or Alive? $5,000. AHC funds will support five radio broadcasts out of public radio station KNAU, Flagstaff, in September 2010, examining Northern Arizona's ghost towns. Broadcasts will feature commentary from NAU History Professor Michael Amundson and will link oral histories, interviews, and music to explore a "sense of place" in Arizona, and what we can learn from Arizona ghost towns. The Unity Festival: A Teachers' Workshop. $6,000. AHC funds will support a K-12 teachers' workshop that will take place in conjunction with Tucson Magnet High School's Unity Festival in April 2010. Project Director: Curtis Acosta, 520/891-7327.

Middle Eastern Studies Institute II. $10,000. AHC funds will support an institute in July 2010 incorporating lectures, workshops, and field trips that provide secondary teachers and high school students with content on the historical, cultural, and religious traditions of the Middle East.
