October 20, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

archaeology sw 2015-2016 1On October 20, 2015, Arthur Vokes (Arizona State Museum) will present “Pan-Regional Exchange Systems and High-Status Goods.”

From Arthur:

I will discuss pan-regional exchange of high-status exotic materials, including trade networks incorporating marine shell, turquoise, macaws/parrots, copper bells, and other special items. Many of these classes of material derive from outside of the American Southwest and Northwest Mexico and were widely exchanged among elites in a network that extended from central Mexico to ancestral Pueblo communities and from the California coastline to the Mound Cultures of Oklahoma.
