Board of Directors

The Arizona Humanities Council's volunteer board of directors is made up of members who share a commitment to enhancing the cultural life of Arizona in pursuit of a just and civil society -and whose background, expertise, and contacts provide the tools AHC needs to remain a successful, dynamic and entrepreneurial organization.

AHC believes its board of directors should reflect the rich diversity of Arizona. One-fourth of the board is appointed by the governor, and the remainder is elected by the current board of directors from statewide applicants. Members serve three-year terms, with the possibility of renewal for an additional three years. AHC receives many excellent nominations and welcomes diverse applicants from the public and private sector.

This is a working board in a very real sense, one that depends on the contributions of every board member. Each year board members consider dozens of grant proposals, fundraise, set policy, serve as evaluators for AHC-funded projects, help plan and oversee AHC-sponsored activities, and sit on ad hoc or standing committees. Board members are a vital link between AHC and the communities we serve across Arizona.

If you would like more information on becoming a board member, please contact Brenda Thomson, Executive Director, at 602-257-0335 x22 or bthomson@azhumanities.org
